Exodus: The God Who Saves
Exodus is the great story of God’s redemption in the Old Testament. God delivers his people from slavery in Egypt in order to enjoy life in his presence in the promised land. Our focus in this series on considering the question: who is this God who saves? We want to see our God more clearly so that we can learn to live in light of who is he and all that he has done for us in Christ.

When want to ask, to quote Indiana Jones, “Why’d it have to be snakes?”
These three promises are rooted in God himself: his presence, his message, his power. These promises, when applied to our hearts by the Holy Spirit, will give us the courage and wisdom to live on mission wherever God sends us.
Before things get better in Exodus, they get worse. The great promises of God’s deliverance seem to lead only to life becoming more difficult—making bricks without straw. Yet, in these moments of despair, the Lord God helps his people see the true hope of their redemption: “I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God.”
